BOPS is the abbreviation of ( Biaxially Orientated Polystyrene ). It is a kind of high-performance thermoplastic plastic sheet prepared by special biaxially oriented process and one of the internationally recognized green food packaging materials.

Core raw material: food grade polystyrene resin

The basic raw material of BOPS is general polystyrene (GPPS) resin, which is non-toxic, tasteless and odorless. It meets FDA and EU 90/128/EEC food contact hygiene standards and can be directly contacted with food. Different from ordinary PS plastics, BOPS completely changes the physical properties of the material through the bidirectional stretching process, and solves the natural defects of big brittleness and easy fracture of ordinary PS.

The core advantage of BOPS material comes from its unique production process:

Melting extrusion: heating and melting the dried polystyrene resin, and forming a uniform thick sheet blank through an extrusion machine;

Longitudinal stretching: stretch the thick sheet 2-3 times along the running direction of the machine at a specific temperature to improve the longitudinal strength of the material;

Transverse stretching: stretch the longitudinally stretched sheet for 2-3 times along the vertical direction to make the molecular chain evenly oriented in the plane;

Cooling sizing: Rapidly cool and fix the molecular structure after stretching to obtain BOPS sheet with stable performance.

Through biaxially stretching, the mechanical strength, tenacity, transparency and dimensional stability of BOPS material have been improved exponentially, the transmittance can reach over 90%, the haze is less than 2%, and the surface gloss is high. BOPS material is an ideal material for making highly transparent food packaging.
