BOPS, also known as biaxially oriented polystyrene, is a sheet of polystyrene (PS) modified by biaxially oriented stretching technology, which enhances rigidity, transparency, dimensional stability through physical stretching. Essentially, it still belongs to the polystyrene plastic category.

In China's food safety standard system, the use of BOPS materials has clear regulatory basis:

Compliant with the general requirements of GB 4806.7-2023 "National Food Safety Standard - Plastic Materials Products in Contact with Food", it belongs to the plastic category allowed by law for use in food packaging;

The basic resin must meet the special requirements for polystyrene resin in GB 4806.6, with strict limits on raw material purity, residual monomers, additives;

Legitimate products in the industry usually also pass FDA EU food contact standard certifications simultaneously, suitable for export cross-border catering scenarios.

Simply put, as long as the sushi box is made with new food grade BOPS raw materials produced according to specifications, it has the legal qualification to directly contact food. Raw cold ingredients such as sashimi, sushi, sashimi are all within the scope of application.
